Thanks, Jay, but I don't want to be on a pedestal.  I'm afraid I'll fall
off, and it's hard to make eye contact with people from up there.

In general, more participation by people in their own health care is long
overdue.  Some docs have a hard time giving up the "mystique"--and I might
add the big houses and fancy cars--that have been associated with it. Yes,
there's a lot to know.  I know more about it and have the background
knowledge to ask better questions about what's new out there than many of
my patients--that's my job.  But when it comes to a knowing a particular
baby, I'll listen to a breastfeeding mom over some "expert" any day.
