Hi, Pam

IgA deficiency is part of a group of immune disorders. The most well known
is Severe Common Immune Disorder. That is what "the boy in the bubble" had.
I have a nephew who has CVID - Common Variable Immune Disorder. These are
inherited. At NO time has any health care worker suggested that my nephew
would 'grow' out of this. To the contrary, it is expected that he will
produce less and less IgA and lose other components of his immune system as
well.

there are several web sites that you would find helpful.

They are: The International Patient Organization for Primary
Immunodefiencies
at: http://www.ipopi.org/index.html

And The Jeffrey Modell Foundation at: http://www.mssm.edu/peds/modell/

If you don't have access through a browser - let me know. These orgs have
hotlines you can call on the phone.

Good luck. I'm SO glad the baby/mom you're working with was able to see the
link to better care through the use of mother's milk.

Take care,
Margaret Ann
