I'm at a crossroad. My hospital has just merged with another and they
have combined the Mother/Baby Unit. I had worked hard to establish a
respected Lactation Program at my hospital and am working to do the same
at our new location. The problem is that this hospital is bigger and
has many more employees who do not support bf. Everytime I go to work
with a mother who is having problems there's a bottle in the crib that
the nursery nurses have insisted baby needs. I will be doing some bf
education, but I know the nurses who should be there won't. Has anyone
had any experience in this area? Has anyone had any success with
changing attitudes? I'm about to give up.
Thanks,
Kim Hansen, RN, BSN, IBCLC
