Dear Carolyn,

I apologize if I am redundant...I am catching up on my e-mail. You asked
if more recanalization is likely to occur after a second pregnancy following
breast reduction surgery. I believe the answer is yes. JHL Vol 9,#3
(September, 93).
has two articles on breastfeeding success after reduction and contains an
annotated bibliography by Laura Widdice. See citation 29 on page 164. In
some cases recannalization does occur: " Microscopic studies indicate that
regeneration of mammary tissue can occur and increases during pregnancy.:

I also dimly remember reading somewhere a summary of case studies from India
(?) where the surgeon reported that several women had had increased milk
production with successive pregnancies subsequent to surgery. Unfortunately I
can't place where I read it.

Good luck to you and your client.
