This is from a friend of mine who has been in a lesbian co-parent nursing
situation - she induced lactation and nursed her partner's biological child
then gave birth to a child and nursed it (forwarded with her permission):

>I would as a LLLL and as a
>mother who induced lactation, frown on Reglan. Not necessary, IMHO. If the
>baby is taking the co-parents breast then just increase the knowledge she has
>of other adoptive (that's her closest comparison) moms who've been content to
>be a comfort breast rather than a feeding breast. I would recommend if she is
>caring for the child in the bio-mom's absence, that she use the SNS. Baby
>gets bio-mom's milk and co-parent gets the stimulation at the breast which MAY
>induce some milk production. Baby never gets artificial nipples and how many
>of us have wanted to have a babysitter who could nurse!

>From a 2xAI mom, induced lactation with good results (he weaned at
>5+) and pg. with a surrogate baby (about 24 wks?) still nursing the 3 yr old!
>Okay, it's a bit of overkill, but it works for me!

>re: <<do adoptive mom's who breastfeed ever stop menstruating? >>
>The answer is very few. Many adoptive moms have irregular cycles anyway so
>this would be hard to evaluate. Some notice a change in their cycles,
>shorter, lighter, but most are not able to sustain a child without
>supplementation and the bonus amenorhea is not theirs to be had. Bummer!
>(never happend to me, the MD who helped us conceive our second child was
>afraid nursing
>our first child would supress ovulation, then was afraid the Clomid would
>pass the breast
>milk. My concerns were not so extreme. Small milk production and my
>desire to have a second FAR outweighed any concerns I had. Funny, the thought
>of weaning our first child never even occurred to me!
