Sounds like a control/power issue for this surgeon. There certainly isn't
any logic based reason for her to wean. I say lie, how is the surgeon going
to know whether she's still nursing or not. The surgery would likely be
done on an outpatient basis, she'd probably miss 1-2 feedings, and there is
no reason to pump/dump. As previously mentioned here on Lactnet, if mom is
awake, anesthesia is no longer present in her blood, therefore no longer
present in her milk.
