Are you saying that they are trying to rule out these diseases (lactic
acidosis and glycogen storage disease) because of a single reaction to
infant formula?  Was the baby doing well on breastfeeding?  If so, I
do believe that breastfeeding is great, of course, but it will not
really prevent the manifestations of these diseases, not completely at
any rate.
