There have been several posts regarding increased milk production. I have
come across a book that has some great herbal recipes (in my opinion) for many
birth, lactating and postpartum mom & baby problems. It is titled "Wise Woman
Herbal for the Childbearing Year" by Susun S. Weed.
She carefully explains how to make an infusion of Blessed Thistle or Borage
leaves, Raspberry or Nettle leaves and one of the following seeds: Anise,
Cumin, Fennel, Caraway, Coriander or Dill. The recipe is lengthy so won't
post it all. Contact me directly or consult the book. She gives a couple of
other ideas including Fennel/Barley water.
Also, I have had the following work recently with moms with plugged
ducts--Grated raw cold potato placed on the affected breast covered with
towels until dry. Can repeat if desired. Both times, after applying at
night, by morning the pain, redness and lumps were gone. This is also in
Susun Weed's book. (one mom had suffered a week, the other about 2 days)
I have been hesitant to post this information since I have no medical research
to support the information in the book, but since it works thought some of you
might be interested.
