Hello all:
I have a mother with a 3 week old baby (6 pounds 11 ounces) that was born 4
weeks early (birthweight was 5-9).
The baby had an episode where he stopped breathing and was admitted to the
hospital. He may have a viral lung infection and is on antibiotics. The baby
is on oxygen, monitors and an IV, and is still nursing.
While nursing the mother and nurse noticed the babies heartrate drops
dramatically as the baby gets relaxed at the breast.
Any stimulation, blowing in the babies face, tickling his tummy, brings the
heartrate right back up again.
Has anyone seen this before???
Please e-mail me privately, thanks.
