Greetings! My deepest apologies for sending this message to the wrong
place...I thought I had is right Twice!, but I don't . So sorry to clutter up
the mail boxes of the Kathleens...Hopefully I'll get it right this time. Here
goes.....
A mom with 11 month old who nurses 4x/d has one silicone implant that ruptured
about 6 mos ago. She thinks it was a slow leak. She can feel it now colapsed
inside her left breast5.
Surgeon wants to remove it.... Questions are: should she have it removed or
leave it inside. Any risks to leaving it?
She worries about replacing the implant with a new one because of risk of
damage to tissue, nerves, etc.
She knows how lucky she is to be nursing after surgery, and she loves nursing
more than she thought and sees the many benefits for her son...He was 34
weeker who over came lots of bf probs early on...
Is there anything mom should ask surgeon ( a female btw). Did I forget any
details?
What to you all think about weaning the "flat" side to remove the implant and
continuing to nurse on other side until bb weans. Is it necessary to wean
totally before the surgery?
I checked Lactnet archives re "Silicone Implants" and got one post - nothing
relevant.
TIA for any guidance.
