All the posts of working and breastfeeding and the military reminded me of a
memo that I received cortesty of a family support employee that used to work
at the Air Force base here. The memo states that the "Hq AFAS (Air Force
Aid Society) will provide grant assistance to cover the cost of renting an
electric breast pump for those families who otherwise could not afford the
rental. The referrals will come directly from the Family Advocacy Nurse
Specialist on your base....."
It is my understanding that this is available for Air Force active duty and
their dependants. I have been given the impression that the only other
requirement is that the mom be bfing(of course) and have a desire to have a
pump, although it is limited to 3 months.
