I am a day behind so pardon if this has been said, but why must the choice be
between a drug and surgery? Conservative management like ice, etc. and
physical therapy ( modalities and/or hands-on techniques),might provide relief
now as well as provide education to help prevent this in the future. Even tho
Hale lists corticosteroids as "NOT (my emphasis - where do these people get
their references???) contraindicated" in small doses, and suggests waiting 4
hours, this shot is at best a quick fix. The mom would probably benefit from
seeing a good PT anyway. Just wondering is this has been offered as an
option...Judy LeVan Fram, Brooklyn. NY
