An update on the DSS Mom who was planning to pump for her baby for a month
- I had asked some of your advice - well I kept in touch for a few days,
then got basically paranoid that she would never keep it up and didn't call
her for a while.
Last week I got a phone call "Hey Anne this milk's only a'dripping outa my
left breast, what am I gonna do?"
I was so delighted she was still pumping - not quite every 3 hours, but the
milk production had slowed quite suddenly (maybe with mounting stress about
whether she'll get the baby back?) and as soon as it did she called me.
I got her OB Dr. to prescribe Reglan because I thought, she only has one
more week to go...I also stressed and restressed that she MUST pump
frequently. She is BF her baby at visits and has been taking pumped milk to
the foster family.
Well today she tells me the Reglan worked great, no side effects either
"Yup, there's milk in my breasts again".
She goes to court Friday and will bring the baby straight to the hospital,
if she regains custody. Keep all your fingers crossed for her..... (And for
me - lots of issues of supply, etc. ahead I'm sure...)
