I need some technical help. I am in contact with an expectant mom who has a
child with galactosemia. She has a 25% chance of having another child with the
same. She has been told by her geneticist that the benefits of colostrum
would be worth initiating breastfeeding. Her OB & Ped have been unable to
confirm or deny that she could initiate BF. She would like to know if
colostrum has significant amounts of lactose and galactose that would
contraindicate initiation of BF. She plans to have testing done on baby
immediately-probably get results in 24 hrs. However, if she delivers over the
week-end they would not get results before Mon. She has a cesarean birth
scheduled for Feb. 2, but this is her 3rd child and could go into labor any
day. Please contact me ASAP. I will be looking for answers.
Thank-I just subscribed this week and have looked up info for 2 other moms
already. This is great. I was also able to pass info on to 2 subscribers.
