Re: LSD

As Dr. Newman pointed out, LSD has a rather brief half-life in an adult and
its danger to a breastfeeding infant is primarily while it is in the plasma
compartment of the mom. In this instance, LSD effects on a breastfed infant
could be significant. LSD is incredibly potent, and minute amounts could be
deleterious to an infant, although the long term sequelae are robably
minimal.

But once it has gone through 5 or more half-lives, then it is not too
likely that it would effect the infant, but we don't know exactly how long
a mom would need to wait to be absolutely certain it would be safe. LSD may
have deeper compartments in which it has a much longer half-life than in the
plasma(3 hrs), hence urine can be positive for up to 120 hours. Certainly
she should probably pump and dump during an extended waiting period at least
15 to 48 hours. She should be reminded, that her infant could be drug
screen positive for some time, even if he/she only receives subclinical
amounts. This may have serious medicolegal consequences for the mom.

quoting my book, but please, lets try to get it right. twh
