dear lisa,
haven't we all been there, too. i have often wanted to do something about this
types of situations, and have occasionally suggested to mothers that they
could "do some good" by confronting the doctor, writing a letter, making a
phone call, etc. but this is not realistically going to happen very often.
thus i was very pleased to find, in the winter edition of the rocky mountain
leader (the area leader newsletter), a "sample letter to health care provider
whose view on a particular subject differs from LLLI's." it is terrific, and i
have vowed to get it onto my computer so i can just spit it out in these kinds
of rant situations. since it has been through the usual several levels of
scrutiny before appearing, i assume it can be used freely. perhaps you can use
it in your area.
and now everyone can urgently request copies of this from me, as i am going to
either get it from the editor or type it in. it is very well written, and
persuasive, and the phrase, "are you out of your mind?!?!?!?" does not appear
in it, which it would if i wrote such a letter myself while in rant mode.
