Lisa, thank you so much for posting the Nursing of the Prophet Muhammed.
Many lessions to be learned from this story.

Can I respectfully request that we give this Mad About You episode a rest?
It is an important subject but perhaps in another forum at this point. What
scares me about the whole thing is the selling of abandonment, the ultimate
form of child abuse. Seeing the doctor on the Today show approving of all
of this really got to me. Hard to believe that other mammals hear their
young crying and do not go to them. Instinctive behavior one would assume.
Humans cry and and the normative behavior (plenty of exceptions but think
non cruel) of the companion/observer is to offer some sort of comfort. Why
should babies be treated any differently?? This is also something that has
wormed its way into Western culture. Another battle.

Re: leaflet issue, we have beaten this one to death as well, I feel. Maybe
she should change the wording a bit. If the 'do not assume' was not in
screaming capital letters it can be read differently by different persons.
That is why we also have to be careful of how and what we write into our
Lactnet posts.

No more nudging requests.

I wish all of you a happy holiday season.

Evi, in rainy Ashdod, Israel
