Gee we are such saps. We go into spasms of guilt if we advise mothers
to do the right thing. Today, a mother told me:
"The nurse at the hospital said that I was a bad mother because I was
starving my baby and I didn't want to give him formula". I'll bet that
nurse has absolutely no feelings of guilt for saying that. Probably
thinks she is a good nurse, and if she read Kathleen's note, would be
absolutely shocked and horrified. And we should not make mothers feel
guilty for not breastfeeding.
