Okay, it's my day for posting... I must be trying to fill an entire digest
myself...
This came to me a while ago on another list, for parents of special needs
children.  I was wondering what some expert's thoughts on this might be.
This mom had a daughter born with several birth defects including renal
failure. The girl is 7 years old now.

"I just felt like I had to add my two cents....I'm just really sad that I
couldn't breastfed, but it probably turned out for the best.  Janie had to
have a lot of stuff added to her feedings...for a while I pumped breastmilk
for her, but then the doctors told me that a speicalized formula for kids
with kidney failure would be better for her.  I was crushed.  When then
when we started looking into a transplant for Janie, I had doctors telling
me that if I had breastfed it was likely that Janie could not get a
kidney from me.  I lucked out, apparently the little milk she did get didn't
effect her immune system enough to reject my kidney.

Just wanted to let others know that sometimes breatfeeding isn't the best
thing for your child..."

(OUCH, that last sentence!)  So, anyone want to comment on this?  I will
not be replying to the mom in any way, her child is 7 years old now, but I
am curious to learn more about this type of situation.
