Hi All!
Regarding the question on Kava Kava Root during breastfeeding:
My first question is, what is the purpose of Kava being taken by this mom?
Kava is a pretty heavy duty relaxant and pain killer (herbally speaking).
Although there is no documentation as to adverse side effects with this
herb, my concern would be that if it does by chance pass through breast
milk, it may cause a very sleepy, lethargic baby.
If the idea in its use is simply as a relaxant, would chamomile suffice?
It is much less potent and still gets the relaxation job done.
Please e-mail me with further details on the reasoning behind this herbal
choice and I will see if I can assist further.
Wishing you health and wellness!
