Hi again,
First, thanks to those who e-mailed me about the mom with the green, "no-fat"
milk. Several people responded that the color didn't matter, but no one has
commented on the seeming lack of fat in the milk. Is this a problem? We
wondered if the extended use of the Reglan (she was on it for over a month)
might have had an effect on the milk. I don't think she's had any other
problems w/the baby.
Now for my NEXT question: our VP of Womens Services wants us to come up with
a brief survey we can ask bf patients to complete, in order to evaluate a) our
Lactation Services (we have 4 part-time LCs, only 2 of us IBCLC) and b) bf
support at our hospital in general. Has anyone ever done a survey of this
type? If so, could I see a copy of it, or could you at least give me feedback
on what you did & how it worked?
Our concerns are that moms are already being surveyed by our Patient
Representative, and a small percentage are being contacted at home by an area-
wide survey company evaluating health care in St. Louis. Our BF coalition
tried surveying new moms at 6-8 weeks postpartum, to determine how well area
hospitals were complying w/the 10 Steps of BFHI, & we found it really hard to
track down many moms after 6 weeks. So when would be a good time to survey
them. We want feedback on our post-discharge phone followup as well, so doing
it before discharge wouldn't be enough.
Any ideas? We'd hate to re-invent the wheel!
TIA!
Carol
