Here's a second note this month from a longtime Lactnet lurker...

Since so many of you deal with women who have breast problems, it
stands to reason that you will occasionally come across women
who have or will be diagnosed with breast cancer. (Months before
my diagnosis I remember asking the IBCLC/LLLL in our group whether
it was normal for a nipple to invert after weaning. She reminded me
that it was one possible symptom of BC, and I thought "yeah, right".
:-( ) In fact, I do see BC mentioned every once in awhile in the
postings, including the "Maya's Angels" post from last Friday.

I am posting the instructions for the BC list so that you may pass it
along as a possible resource for anyone who has need for support,
information, etc. for themself or a loved one regarding BC.

Here are the intro paragraphs from the welcome message:
>>>>>>>>>>
While some of the list will be devoted to discussions of medical
advances, as well as possible therapeutic treatments, both
mainstream and alternative, the list should also have a less
rigorous side to it. The list does not recommend particular
therapies, but seeks to increase the information available on
options and choices.

It will also be a forum for breast cancer patients and their loved
ones to vent frustrations and offer alternative strategies in
dealing with the patriarchical medical-industrial complex, and to
offer help and insights into the psychosocial management of the
disease.

Finally, the list will offer a venue for the discussion of the
work of various grassroots breast cancer advocacy groups
worldwide, to announce events, to exchange ideas related to
breast cancer activism, and, more broadly, to discuss the politics
of breast cancer and health care.

The default is non-digest (single message) mode, but you can send
the command
 set breast-cancer digest
to the same address to convert to digest mode. The big difference
between digest mode there and here on Lactnet, is that on the BC list
all messages are collected for the day and sent out at midnight
(Newfoundland time!) in one huge digest. I think the traffic level
is comparable to Lactnet, but since it comes in one big batch
(bolus?!) each day it *seems* heavier and harder for me to keep up
with.

You may also find it handy to know that the searchable archives for
this list are kept at
http://www.medinfo.org/lists/cancer/bc_browse_sl.html

Hope this info is of some help to someone, someday.
