EMLA is also wonderful when starting pediatric IV sites.  It seems to work
great. The older children for whom I have started IV's using EMLA, don't
appear to experience any discomfort. Using it for circs is a good idea!
Although, on occasion I have seen this cause mild skin irritation.

People who are having electrolysis treatments swear by this-it numbs the
area nicely(electrolysis can be quite painful although it is the only
reliable permanent hair removal system) >>
