I would like to know how the ob knows this is anovulatory.  It could
very well be, and may be a prelude to normal menstrual periods.  This
is sometimes how the menstrual periods begin while nursing.  There is
no need to use the progestin if she doesn't want to.  What's wrong
with anovulatory bleeding?  Besides the inconvenience, I hasten to
add, as someone who doesn't know about these things.

It might be prudent to start using some method of birth control if she
is not already doing so, and the progestin pill is one option.
