dear sandra,
you are not alone. there seem to be a small percentage of women whose bodies
do not seem to want to lose weight in the "normal" (or normally predicted) way
after giving birth. my own body seems to think that dishing out the calories
requires conserving all the calories possible. (there is also a theory that
native americans have evolved to operate in a feast or famine mode, which
might be my personal excuse.) i have met a small number of women who
experience this, and many of them were indeed trying to limit intake and eat
sensibly, then lost the extra weight after weaning. normal can, indeed, mean a
lot of things.
