I read the previous post that Madonna was still breastfeeding. Does
anyone have good confirmation that she has not indeed weaned? I ask
because I read in Rolling Stone an interview just before the birth
wherein she expressed a somewhat ambivalent plan to nurse, saying
that she found the breastfeeding proponents in general to be
off-putting and that she was generally unconvinced of the
over-arching greatness (I am paraphrasing, obviously, here).
So the news that she is still breastfeeding Lourdes (age of baby,
anyone?) at more than a few months does surprise me: has
breastfeeding itself won her over without the fanatics ever getting
in a word edgewise? Has the material girl gone truly maternal?
If so, all my best. It was inevitable that she learn that her
breasts did have a role to play in life beyond a "supporting role"
for all those bustiers and frightening conical brassiers.
I know this is just fluff to all you Dr. Newman/Hale netters who come
on to actually learn something about breastfeeding, but I just
attended my last class of the semester and I was ready for a little
common gossip. My apologies.
