I'm working with a mom who is going to need a heart valve replacement in the
next 6 to 12 months. She will have to take an anticoagulant for the rest of
her life.
Right now her baby is 8 months old. She is going to try to put off the
surgery for as long as possible because she doesn't want to wean. Her doctor
wants to give her coumadin and my literature says you can't take it while
breastfeeding.
Is there another drug she can take so she can have the surgery sooner and not
wean?
Thank you.
