Just an idea. I don't know how your clinic works, as I am not real
familiar with Wic. But could one peer counselor be assigned to a play
area with the kids, while another or other counselors do their
counselling.? I know in our local health unit there are kitchen toys and
rocking horses, etc kinda in a corner of the waiting area for kids to
play with. Maybe a room or a corner area could be set up for play area.
Moms could donate toys etc to stock the area, books, etc, a little table
and chairs, baby swing, colors and coloring books. Even in the same room
as the counselors are could be a little corner play area? Good luck
keeping the moms and kids together.
