My pediatrician has mentioned this. I had IV antibiotics in labor for
GBS. Of course, me and my daughter got to enjoy the subsequent yeast
infections. I get them from so much as looking at an antibiotic :/.
Her poor little diaper area was unresponsive to nystatin, and another
cream whose name unfortuately escapes me (begins with an "s"...). All
of our usual home tx for diaper rash were ineffective. My ped. says that
he has been seeing a lot of resistant yeast. He mixed up a nifty little
cream containing, among other things, boric acid powder. After about 12
days, her bottom was (finally!) totally clear. However, a brief episode
with oral/breast thrush did clear up quickly with nystatin swabs.
