In tonight's piece, Lt. Cuevas's choice to breastfeed her baby was falsely
presented as a neutral lifestyle choice. In reality, the Army was asking her
to expose her baby to significant health risks. I suggest that you look at
some of the medical journal citations on The Breastfeeding Advocacy Page
<http://www.clark.net/pub/activist/bfpage/bfpage.html>, which outline the risks
of using formula instead of human milk.
One of your duties as a journalist is to question the motives of those whom
you interview. I think you ought to have have questioned the officer who was
forced to wean her children at 6 weeks: did her anger at Lt. Cuevas have
anything to do with her not wanting to face the fact that the Army forced her
to compromise her children's health.
