Hi Netters,
Heading to Springfield for our IL State, BF Task Force meeting, but had to
make a quick post first. There are many past posts on this topic so look
in the archives. Do not forget at one time we taught fresh breastmilk was
to be collected in plastic because leukocytes collected on the sides of
glass. Then research showed after 24hrs the leukocytes fall back into the
milk. Glass is now thought to be the ideal storage container, due to the
potential of decreased IgA in soft plastic. The research done was in the
early 70's and only on fresh, 24hr. milk. Who knows what will be found if
the milk is frozen, defrosted, and over 24hrs.????? I am still working on
the research. Just make sure the baby gets breastmilk and not formula
!!!!!!!!!
