I would like to update you re:my post a few weeks ago about a 7 day old
baby with an ineffective suck. Thank-you to all of you who e-mailed me
privately, the support is wonderful. The mother's milk supply is now
plentiful, she is still on domperidone. We tried finger feeding during the
day and bottling at night for time convenience. Mother was becoming very
tired, she also has two other children, 5 and 3. I live on Vancouver
Island in a small town, cranio-sacral therapy trained physiotherapist was
not easy to find. With the help of the head of physiotherapy at the
hospital we located one 2 hours from here. Luckily the mother was going to
this town to visit her mother. I gave the mother the info from the
cranio-therapy therapist and mother decided to try. This is my first
experience with this method. The baby had one treatment and the suck
improved. I feel there is a place for this but other assessments should be
done before thinking this is the cure to all our problems, ie positioning,
latch, oral digital assessment etc. I have to give the mother so much
credit for her patience and determination.
