Toni,
Definitely advise your mother to continue breastfeeding while travelling in
India. Risks of contamination & infections are so much higher if she stops.
Advise to be careful with hygiene, drink boiled water etc.
Re: Giardia. BAB p.185  "giardia itself is not dangerous to nursing baby"
Caution may be needed with meds to treat giardia. Indian Paed. Assoc. seems
to be very supportive of breastfeeding which is really nice to see.  Hope
I'm not repeating anything. I haven't read all of the posts yet.
