Isovue is not radioactive.

It is, in fact iodine.  Iodine concentrates in the milk, but not
necessarily this compound about which I could not find information.
The company says mothers should stop breastfeeding for 48 hours (!!)
after an injection of this stuff, but I would ignore this advice.
There is no evidence that the concentration in the milk would be very
high, since the stuff drops to low concentratin in the mother's plasma
very quickly, within minutes of injection.  Secondly it is possible
that it is not even absorbed orally, but I cannot find this out.  It
does not pass the blood brain barrier, which Dr. Hale says is a good
rule of thumb for whether a drug gets into milk in significant
amounts.

We do IVP's in small babies, and that's considered okay.  Please,
encourage the mother not to stop breastfeeding regardless of what the
techs or radiologists say.  It's her baby and her decision.  I
wouldn't stop for one minute.
