I need to know if Famvir (famciclovir) is OK. It's a new, more potent
med. Mom took 500mg 12hrs ago and is nursing a toddler mainly at night.

Meds literature says:
Following oral administration of famciclovir in lactating rats,
penciclovir was excreted in breastmilk at concentrations higher than
those seen in the plasma. It is not known whether it is excreted in
human milk. Because of the potential for tumorigenicity shown for
famciclovire in rats, a decision should be made whether to discontinue
nursing or to discontue the drug, taking into account the importance of
the drug to the mother.
