In these situations I find it helpful to stimulate mom's nipple till it is as
erect as possible, then after latch I find myself wiggling the breast
slightly, in a manner that causes the nipple to stroke the palate, without
breaking the latch. I have mom talk soothingly to baby during this to calm and
distract baby from his impatience.
