As far as the pees and poops are concerned, the trouble with a check
list is that there is no widespread agreement on how many, how often
is adequate.  For this reason I still prefer showing mothers the pause
in the baby's chin to demonstrate to them when the baby is getting
milk.  Ultimately, knowing the baby is getting milk is far more direct
and satisfying and reassuring than wet diapers or poops.
