Received a call from a lactating teacher who plans to take her class on
a kayak trip in May for 1-3 weeks. Her baby will then be 8 months old.
Her questions were 1) Will she be able to maintain her milk supply with
a handpump for this length of time. (She expects to have complimented
breastfeeding with solids at this point.)pumping 3x/day and 2)What is
the likelihood that the baby would wean after 1, 2 or 3 weeks? I do not
have enough experience with this to give her an educated guess, so am
asking for your collective thoughts.
There is a possibility she could take the baby with her, but she feels
this would divide her loyalties. There is also a possibility her spouse
could come too, which would probably be ideal, but she wanted my opinion
as is unsure this would be possible so.......any ideas?
Thanking you in advance
