I myself would go for finger feeding first.  If a baby is hungry, or
crying, they want food ASAP, finger feeding delivers more rapidly.
Cup feeding is messy especially if the baby is searching a lot.
Babys have a need to suck, if they don't have  a dummy at least they
can suck a finger periodically.  Anyway that is just what I find
works best for me.
