Yesterday while I was writing my notes, an mom came into the nurses station
and seeing her baby lying on its tummy asked her doctor (family practice) who
was there, if the baby shouldn't be on her back as she had heard. The doctor
replied that it was OK because the baby was on a flat bed with no blankets
that could get around its face and was also because it was lying on the bili
blanket!
What??
Is the "back to sleep" program only effective because of blankets not being as
likely to get around the baby's face? Is there some literature somewhere
about this???
