Susan,
Am currently studying for the certification exam in July, just recently
came across data re: fat content in breastmilk. Check out Ruth Lawrence's
BREASTFEEDING: A GUIDE FOR THE MEDICAL PROFESSION; pp 283-287. Quote; "Fat
is the main source of kilocalories in human milk for the infant. The fatty
acid composition of the lipid compartment of human milk, can be affected by
maternal diet." I would think both prenatal fat stores, as well as dietary
fat intake during lactation, would have an impact on fat content of
breastmilk. As to how I knew it was fat content that caused the bubbling
(per your private post), attribute it to some long forgotten chemistry
class. I am one of those unfortunate people who retains alot of
information, but can't remember where it came from. Makes it hard to quote
resources sometimes.
