  Much of the article deals with the composition of these formulas ( yum,
yum!)

   The sconclusions/recommendations:

    1.soy is o.k. for "term infants whose nutritional needs are not being met
from maternal b. m. or coyw milk based forulas, ... soy .. are safe effective
alertivies.

   2. appropriate for infants with galactosemia and heriditar lactase
deficience.

   3. parents seeking a vegetarian based diet.

   4. not necessary for acute gastoenteritis.. manage with human breast milk
or standard dilutions of cow milkk based formulas

   5. no porven value in the prevention or mgn of infantile colic.

   6. no proven value in the prevention of atopic disease

   7. /w documented cow milk protein induced enteropathy or enterocolitis
frequently are as sensitive to sy and shlou not be given iolated soy.

   8. /w documented IgE mediated allergy to cow milk protein wwill do well on
isolated soy.

   9. no designed or recommedded for preterm infants who weihgt <1800 grams.
