Hello all, I am in need of some clarification regarding "titles". What
is the difference between a Lactation Consultant, Breastfeeding
Consultant, Breastfeeding Educator, Lactation Education etc etc? I
have been educating women about breastfeeding and providing "hands-on"
breastfeeding help for years now. I am not an IBCLC although I am in
the process of getting certified. I am a certified doula and
childbirth educator. So would it be appropriate to call myself a
lactation consultant or is that reserved for IBCLC? Who gets to
determine abilities and skill levels? I certainly would not say I am a
IBCLC because I am not (yet). But I am providing lactation services.
Who am I? I am confused....any thoughts??
