Hi call,

Here we go again-Breastfeeding sacrificed on the alter of ignorance and
other things! I'm ready to fill out the dreaded incidence report!

33 yo grab 3 on Zoloft 50 mg since early pregnancy told by her "on call"
family practice doctor that she could not breastfeed. Lactation Services
sent the MD 2 faxes on it's safety in breastfeeding and she was "upset "
that this was happening. This happened on days, enter moi, Staff Nurse
3-11. Before this discussion, during report, was over the nursery nurse
was in tears because "I always get yelled out because of what You guys
do! ".
I took care of the patient-told her what Hale says and suggested she call
her own pedi (hoping against hope that he would say OK)-he did not:-(.
(I did fax him the info from tom's book). Mom has decided to bottle
feed. She is trying to come to terms with it. "I think my husband is
glad because now he will be able to bond with the baby."

Needless to say I am upset.

Thanks for the ear,

Jane
