PenPal Greetings :
"The sad truth is that despite users having been barraged with the Good
Times hoax, and the Deeyenda hoax not everyone was aware that
they had been the victim of a hoax. Furthermore there were still
many more users who hadn’t received a similar warning in the past. So,
despite the similarities in this hoax to previous examples the
PenPal Greetings hoax has also managed to spread far and wide.
In summary: PenPal Greetings is a hoax, not a real virus."
The above is excerpted from Dr. Solomons Website located at :
http://www.drsolomon.com/vircen/vanalyse/va005.html
The fact is that viruses cannot be spread by simlpy opening an e mail,
they can However be spread by OPENING AN ATTACHMENT to an e mail.
So, all of the info in the virus alert posted by Rose Marie, are in fact
not real viruses. If any one wants more information about viruses in
general, Dr. Solomons web site is a good place to start. Un fortunately,
a lot of ppl get their kicks sending these "virus alert" e mails to ppl
who dont really know about viruses and scare them half to death over
nothing. ( Im not saying that Rose Marie did this) She was just trying
to help us, but this is how these hoaxes keep going around.
Hope this helps......
Cindy
