post re:misinformation being spread by Formula Brand X.
Yes, a formula company has this interesting bit of information-the fat in
their formula is "like" breastmilk, which is actually 50% fat. So they
said. Hm.

Has anyone else seen this? My sister who is breastfeeding her almost
three year old picked up the packet of information for me,and took the
gift for her son! (I think it's blocks or something....)You also get a 1
lb. can  of E----l with Iron Powder, 8 oz. of ready to use L---free,
Nursing Mom News and an Enrollment Card so that you can get coupons to
help cover the cost of formula feeding.

Nursing Mom news helps you " choose the right formula" (duh) and explains
that the fat blend is patterned after breast milk, and I quote
"which is, in fact, nearly 50% fat.".
Yipes!
 According to Lawrence, 3rd Edition,p. 79, the NORTHERN FUR SEAL produces
milk with 54% fat! And if I'm reading my Lawrence correctly, human milk
is 3.8% fat!  So someone goofed big time here.
Dr. Jack kindly pointed out to me that approximately  50% of the CALORIES
in breastmilk come from fat, maybe this is the source of the mistake.
These packets are being handed out like, well, like candy, at the ped's
office!
