Hi.
I love this clip of nursing baby animals and human babies on Mr. Rogers'
Neighborhood too!
I think the intro says something about mammal mothers feed their babies
by giving them (their?) milk. It is very gentle at any rate. He talks
about how mothers get a lot of "pleasure from feeding their babies" and
that "feeding their babies is one of the ways mothers show their love."
Try to watch it today if you get Mr. Rogers in the afternoon where you
live. He uses this segment as an intro to a visit to a factory where
they make applesauce. He says something like "When the mother and baby
are both ready, the baby starts eating other foods too." Applesauce
happens to be one of the foods he liked a lot as a young child and that
he likes a lot now...
I don't know if he gets much flack for this segment. They have shown it
before. It may be at least 6 years old or so since I think each of my
three older children saw it at least once before each new baby showed
up. It was a great chance to talk about what kinds of things would
happen when the new baby came and about what babies are like. I do know
that he and his company love hearing what parents think about the show.
I couldn't find an email address for Mr. Rogers. This is what I could
find.
