There is no need for the mother to stop breastfeeding.  She may need
to have surgery with a common bile duct stone (laparoscopy may not be
available for this sort of problem).  Even then, though, she can
breastfeed right up to the surgery, and as soon after surgery as she
feels up to it.

Sometimes infection occurs when there is a block in the common bile
duct.  If she needs hospitalization and antibiotics, she can, of
course, continue to breastfeed.

Babies, of course, should be admitted with their mothers to hospital.
