I just watched today's Dateline NBC and was amazed at the story of a 64
year old Filipino mom who became pregnant thanks to "modern medicine" and
delivered a healthy baby. I was wondering to myself if she breastfed this
baby. I received a "hint" when the reporter, Jane Pauley, posed a question
to the mom during the interview that went something like this..." since you
now have BREASTFEEDING and TEETHING behind you, do you feel you are
handling motherhood well and are ready for anything?"...this is not a
direct quote as I was so appalled by the way she eluded that breastfeeding
and teething were in the same "category" that I didn't catch the end of her
question. Of course I immediately sent an email to NBC and gave my opinion
about the statement and gave them a few facts about the benefits of
breastfeeding. I also put in a little jab about the publicity formula
companies receive and the lack of the same for breastfeeding.
