Actually, the AAP guidelines do mention lactation consultants in
item #5 under the Role of Pedaitricians in Promoting and Protecting
Breastfeeding.  Quote: Become familiar with local breastfeeding
resources (eg, Special Supplemental Nutrician Programs for Women,
Infants, and Children clinics, lactation educators and consultants,
lay support groups, and breast pump rental stations) so that patients
can be referred appropriately.  end quote.
